how old is too old to elastrate a bull calf?

How old is too old to elastrate a bull calf? Some one please tell me. There is a debate here.

Someone correct me if I am wronge, none of our cows are even old enough to have calves yet, I think it is 6 months? I don't really know though, hopefully someone who does will be here soon.

When the bander is fully extended, and the testicles won't go through the band one at a time, the calf is too old.

Good. I put the elastrator band on him this weekend and it just doesnt look how it looks on my goats so I started second guessing myself. And everyone started putting their 2 cents in. I feel a little better now. He is coming up on 6 months old soon. And I thought that was the appropriate time.

I usually wait until they are five months old. I've had a few that I had trouble getting through the elasticator, when they get that big I put two bands on.
