Angus or Brangus

Can anyone tell me if this calf is (mostly) pure Angus, or if he may be Brangus?

We bought him at auction as a "black calf". He was really small, weighing only 62 lbs at a couple of days old. He is almost 4 mo. in this picture. It doesn't really matter, just curious. He is the one that is cryptorchid and someone mentioned that it takes Brangus longer to develop.

I cannot get the link to open the pic. A brangus will show more dewlap, some dropped ear and minor hump typically. The weight of the brangus newborn would be a bit more than 62 lbs. IMO also.

If I remember right the cattle that have Brahma in them , mature slower, but the cattle live and produce longer too. If its A Brangus there should be A trace of A hump.

Try this link:

There are a few pictures of him in that album if you want to take a look. (As well as some of our other critters)

Angus cross with Chinina. Longer legged, and more upheaded than straight angus.

OMG, we have a little heifer that looked just like that!! Now she has turned more and more black though, but for the first 2 or so monthsw we had her she looked just like that, and started changing color gradually! She does have a bit more of a dulap to her, and we got her as a tiny baby too! Sure is a cute girl.

He is getting lighter as he gets older. He is still black along his back but his legs and sides are getting browner. I still bet he will turn black when he gets older, but he does have quite a bit of brown on him now.
