What color is the manure? Has he started eating more of the calf starter than he has in the past? When our calves start getting into the Primer 1 heavily their manure turns gray and will be a little loose for a couple of days while their bodies adjust to the new feed.

The grass could be affecting his manure, yes.
When our cows go out on fresh grass in the spring...watch out! You don't want to be anywhere near their rear ends because they get loose and green.

If he is still active and still eating, I wouldn't worry too much. Change in feed usually affects their manure consistancy and color.
