feces on calves tails

I am raising baby holstein calves. After having a bout with sours, the calves have a matted behind. How do I clean their butts when water doesn't work?

washing calf

You may try using a wash brush and mild dish soap or shampoo. If using shampoo, dont use anything that is meant to strip hair, as it will strip the natural oils that are on the calfs coat.

Just let time clean them up.

Are they on pasture or still in calf pens? I keep mine in calf pens for 60 days. During that time, they get matted up, but after getting on pasture, they clean themselves up in about 2 weeks.
