Yaks

Does anyone know if yaks can be bought in the USA? Is anyone familiar with their long fur? Is it good for spinning? Disposition of these animals?

How interesting. Never thought about yaks.
I found this link for where to get them in N. America on yak ranches:

I hope someone else chimes in on the benefits of Yak raising. Sounds like it might work well in cold climate or high altitude.

Apparently Yaks have poor tolerance for heat.Wild yaks will climb to higher terrain that is snowbound year round in the summer months.I guess that knocks out July & August for Pa. dwellers.Of coarse winter months are cold enough here.I have to wear a Shirpa furryhat when I clean stalls in the winter.
