Final will be able to take AI class at university?

I talked to the professor that teaches the AI class at the local univerisity if there was room for me. He said he likes to take at least one outside person every class. I work for the USDA on campus so I'm considered staff and I can take it for a $5.00 fee waiver and pay the special fees $75.00.

So for the next 12 weeks I'll be spending 4 hours a week getting some experience in AI, preg testing, palpating ovaries, etc. They only allow 20 students in every class so I feel pretty privilaged to be able to take it.

Congrats to you. I took a four day AI course years ago through ABS. I was the only female in the class. A lot of people around here thought that I was a little off the beam; but we got a good start on a simental herd because I was able to AI our cows. We have since swithced to Red Angus bulls because of ease of calving. Our herd has grown so we run two bulls with our herd now. I still AI some of the cows in our home pasture, especially our milk cow and nurse cows. It's great to see more and more women getting into the AI field.
