Highlands

I was just wondering how much milk Highlands produce, and for how long?

As for quantity I can only go by what the books say, 2 to 4 gallons. My cow produces for 10 months then weans the calf and is ready for the next one. I'm planning on milking a Highland, but since she's only two months old now it will be awhile before I have firsthand knowledge.

I milk a 3/4 highland , she has been the family milker for 10 years now
at her peak she gave me about 32 lbs a day , plus nursed her calves
she is old now , and my kids are grown too .. now I take what little i need and the calves get the rest ..
she had the best cream... and lots of it ... you can tell by teh width of my behind that I havent ever turned that down ...
