Hi again,
If you go into the thread "Calf feeding Observations" (I think that's what it's called) there is a link there that will show you what a calfateria is. However, the bottle filled with water hanging on the fence will achieve the same end. For the first couple of days fill it with warm water if it's to hand, while the calf is still banging the bottle around looking for that extra bit of milk. That way it will get the idea that there is something to be got from it and will test it during the course of the day.
I would appreciate if you could let me know if this cures your drooling problem as I suspect that thirst in very young, hand reared calves is a bigger problem than we realise and that many possibly border on dehydration because of the long periods of time between feeds, and more so in warm weather.
