When do I de-horn this little heifer?

When do I dehorn a 6week old heifer? Is it too soon, too late, just right?
Can I dehorn with the same tool used for dehorning goats (the iron)?

Sounds about the right time, if the horns aren't too big for the dehorning iron then use that, if they are too big they will need to be gouged out. Bit bloody that way, but it's the only way if the horns are too big to be burned off..

i raise longhorn cross calves and they always have horns. I use the dehorning past and put it on when they are a day or two old. I've never had to attend to them after that.

Get to it sooner rather than later, especially if you have an iron made for goats.
We aim to get ours done within the first two weeks of life and rarely let it go over a month anymore.
