When to breed cow?

On Tuesday we will be the happy owners of a nice little Jersey cow for the family dairy supply. She is in lactation currently and due again in March. After she calves how long until I breed her back again?

Doc is right, that way she will have a calf the same time next year. The draw back comes if she doesn't catch the first breeding, which can happen, especially if you are trying to AI her. You could try to breed her at two months, but that would put your calf in Febuary, and around here it isn't a real great time to come in to the world soaking wet without heat outdoors. You still have about 8 months to think it over. Lol

you CAN do it any time she comes in heat. the longer you wait the easier it will be to detect she is in heat and the more likely she will get pregnant.
