Holstien with a broken leg, worth it??

Hey we have an opportunity to get a free Holstein cow who is bred, but broke a leg. I dont even know which leg. She is big as are all the cows from this 2500 cow farm. She will get a bullet tomorrow, I am just wondering what you would do. A worst I guess she would get a bullet from us and I would have some canning to do! It would be a ton of care, and I assume we would have to build a sling, plus vet bills.... hmmmmm.

With the cost of beef I would just can her up myself.
Surely you don't have anything else to do with your time, right?

Not enough info to know if you could SAVE her, at least long enough to the get calf or not. Don't know how far alng she is? At the very least as was pointed out, for free. I would be butchering me up some free beef.

I would be a little leery taking it without asking what meds it had been given for pain and swelling such as Banamine. We had one get its leg stuck in a round bale feeder and we had to put it down and butcher ourselves. When the vet was out to look at it he asked what our plans were for the animal if it did not survive and since we were going to eat it he did not give it Banamine.
