Got some bottles today

Finally got the call from dairy for the jersey bull calves. Got 3 of them. One is 4 days old the others are 10 and 12 days old. Had colostrum and already on the bottle. Seem in good condition ( but we are new), firm stools, bright eyes, full of energy and eat great. Not even sure what their fate is yet. Probably gonna keep one for beef but the other might go to sale. Can probably make money right away with price dairy charges. Guy was really nice and helpful, said call if they get scours or have any trouble. Just wanted to share!!

One does have a knot on his jaw. Guy said it was from other calf sucking on him. Heard of this before?

The knot on the jaw could be a few things sometimes a cow will kick at the youngsters trying to nurse . Keep them dry and out of the wind don't feed too much milk and give them access to calf starter fresh water and good hay all the time .

If we decide to sell off 2 of these to pay for our one, can we raise one alone?

Yes, they usually do fine. They like company, but you won't find a single large dairy that keeps their newborns together-all in individual hutches.
