what are you selling and buying your cattle for

i was wondering what everyone was selling and buying there cattal for the price and the lbs and whats a good price for a 2 year old heifer

It depends on breed,weight,color,reg. not reg.,Frame size, condition,Bred not bred. Not to mention Location. Here a Holstein could bring 3000$ angus 2000 to 2500$ reg. 3000 to 4000$.

Still pulling in $2.25-3.50/lb live weight.. depending on the animal, outlet etc..

Last week I bought four 5-6 month old registered angus heifers for $2.40/lb. Average weight was 480#.

Just sold some 940 lb angus mix open heiffers (long yearlings) for $1.87/lb. Market was down a little that day, but that was certainly the most I ever got for feeders. These weren't for breeding stock, going to a feedlot.

We don't have cows however my brother-in-law down the road was able to sell 4 Angus' for $2200

Just bought two jersey bull calves last night. One weighed my guess of 275# while the other was pushing 325# at mine and the sellers guesstimate. I gave $1.25 per pound and was ecstatic to get them. The freezers going to be empty by the time they're ready to fill it back up but I sure have a fancy for jersey beef!

I'm not buying cattle right now, they're too high for my wallet. We're putting in fencing so we can add sheep and goats.
