Cooper had her calf!

So this morning, about five days early, Coop went into early labor, once her water broke, and nothing seemed to be happening, I called my vet, who was a few hours away visiting her mother. At her urging I gloved up and checked her, an enormous pair of feet, and I think a third trying to come up behind, and a big head....so with my vet coaching me in my ear (thank God for blue tooth earpieces) on my stomach, with my arms up to the elbows we sorted everything out and pulling with the contractions, brought Louie into the world...I had a bad moment laying there, seeing those little nostrils flare as his muzzle appeared, that I just could not shift him...the vet called my hubby at the house to help; tho he is completely a non animal person he asked for direction, grabbed his gloves and a belt and came down but by then had worked the legs about to ease the head and shoulders out...both seem to be fine now

Yay for doing such a great job in bringing that calf into the world! You are brave! He appears to have very long legs. Hope he's up and nursing well.

Congratulations to you and the Mini Coop!
Are you going to milk her? Whats her udder look like?
He's a dandy looking little dude.
Pulling calves is good exercise.
Glad you have such a helpful vet too.

she has a surprisingly nice bag with very long teats, easy to milk and good natured about it, so giving "Louie" another full day then will start taking a bit tomorrow. I am not sure I am strong enough to pull full size calf, this bugger about took it out of me! I love my vet, she rocks...
