If I wanted lowlines, I'd think starting with lowlines instead of some Dexter-lowline crosses would be the way to go.
I'm also pretty sure that if you want to register any of your calves, you are going to need both registered cows and bulls. And, unless you plan on selling registered breeding stock, there isn't really any point in having registered cattle.
Lowlines aren't supposed to be that much smaller than typical cattle, you'd think that they'd be worth more than $1000/head if you just sold them at the stockyards.
