Will step ins and poly rope work for rotating jerseys this year?

do not rely on just that system for a perimeter fence...inside a more permanent fence polywire or rope with step ins works fine...just so each section allows for access to water and minerals and shade....

I agree. I add another 10 step in posts to the collection each year. I no longer buy the plastic ones. I prefer the pigtail metal ones.

As far as the equipment goes, yes, that will work fine.

What is the ration for head of cows to land if rotating? What does everyone do for housing?

I also have a 5 HT strands with 3 hot wires/2 grounded on a not-so-busy road. I figure 6 or 7 large round 4x5 bales per head for my winters...this includes calves, and feeders. In the winter they have a portable 12x20 shelter in their winter paddock as well as some hemlock trees to nestle in. Most of the time they lay outside of the shelter on the downwind side.

Angus/ Lowline...if you are raising dairy breeds our dairy crosses, you'll need a much more substantial shelter.

Is that because of the number of winters they will be in? Cause we are not getting dairy calves to milk later, just meat. Thanks

No, dairy breeds, generally speaking, are not as hardy as most beef breeds.
