electric fencing on a budget

Hi all just thought id show you a hack I figured out to secure the ends of my pollytape.
I ran out of the normal buckle ends so I made these out of some wire was probably around 1/8 inch wire I have found that 6 rungs makes it hold securely.

Are the buckles not also an insulator? Now I would believe there is a chance for short to ground at the post

A good pair of insulated pliers would take care of the wake up problem.
