Polled Herefords

Yesterday I picked up 2 500 lb bull calves and 5 325 lb heifer calves. I paid $2.00/lb. That is the most I have ever paid. I think I need my head examined.

They may find you bull headed. Welcome to the club.

Good work.

Well, if it's any consolation, I have a friend that paid $280 for a 35 lb heifer calf not to long ago.

35 lbs seems awful small.

You didn't buy them around here! The calf I sold last week was 340 lbs $1062.50. No wonder I can't afford to eat beef....

I bought 2 bottle calves last year for $150 each, this year however was a different story - the 2 day old Holstein heifer was $250 and the angus bull who is now a steer was 5 weeks old and was $450. There are no cheap calves around here.

Well I guess I should count my blessings from the sounds of things in the rest of the country. I just hope that when it falls it doesn't fall too fast so I have time to unload.

That's about what they're worth, assuming bull calves.
