Please tell me I didn't mess up?

I have two bottle calves...a black angus bull and a jersey heifer. They have been together for about 2 weeks and noticed my little girls ears are chapped from the little bull sucking on them. I have read that they need to separate due to the possibility of hurting her udder if he tries to suck on her. I can't tell if he has tried I have seep rated them but could I be to late? Also the little bull seems to be upset about it he keeps bawling.

If she is just a yearling, he will need something more than her little pinky teats to satisfy the suckle impulse. Ears sound about right.

He would suck your hand. Or elbow. Sounds healthy. Give him an extra bottle of water.

I had a calf that had such a bad suck desire that he at about 5 months start to refuse to eat and when fed with others his size would just sucks on everyone's ears or necks. He ended up starving himself. Stop his sucking some how now.

It's not going to hurt him to separate them. He won't die from bawling.
