Can twin heifer be bread?

I purchased a twin heifer but was told she could not be bread because she was a twin and that their reproductive organs do not form correctly when they are twins. Is this true?

What was the other twin? If it was a hiefer youll be fine if it was a bull shes more than likely a freemartin. When theyre devolepin the bull hormones make the hiefers reproductive tract not develop right. Not always unbreedable but your chances are very slim. You can find out if shes a freemartin with a thermometer.

it was a bull. The guy I purchased her from said she could not be so I had never heard that and wanted someone else to confirm. We will get her checked to see.

Around Here there is dairy. She has had 14 of 15 heifer/bull twins and the heifer breed.
Wish I got the long straw as often as she does.

It is most likely she will be a freemartin since she was twin to a bull. Sometimes you can insert a thermometer in the vagina and tell right away it is not developed, it won't go in. There is also a genetic test if you want to know for sure:

If she is a freemartin, use her for beef. Or resell her for a profit if you can't bring yourself to eat her.

She cannot be bread. It is even doubtful that she can be bred. She can be meatloaf, however. Seth

I think it's something like 90% won't breed. And they vary in how much they are affected by the bull co-twin's hormones, so sometimes the test tube in the vagina shows right away a problem, and sometimes they might look like you should take a chance on them.

They are BY FAR the best meat going, though. I'd raise a free martin for meat every time if I had the choice.

Agreed, free martins are tasty, and very hard to breed.
