Happy Dilemma
I am seeking some fresh ideas for my next project. I have a quarter of ground with most of it planted to native warm season grass and much of it is in a government program, but, I have 24 acres that was a range planting and this year we got some timely rain and I decided to have it hayed. Well, I ended up with 70 large round bales off of 24 acres. I am going to have it tested to find out the feed value of this hay. There is a significant amount of kochia and various other weeds in the mix. I want to obtain a few head of cattle. More that one, less than six. I wonder what peoples thoughts are about types of cattle that might thrive on such a mixture of hay. I am thinking that one cow will eat about 30 lbs. a day, so, I might be able to keep some and sell some of my hay if it tests out good?
