Recovering from Pink Eye

One of our cattle ended up with a moderate case of Pink Eye earlier this month. I was able to treat him, and his eye has cleared up quite a bit, but he does have a thick, fleshy blemish on a fair portion of the eye.

He does seem to have some vision in that eye where two weeks ago, he did not.

I'm curious if I am able to do any treatments to help the eye continue to improve, or is my only option to sit back and watch to see how well the eye recovers.

Thanks for any thoughts and insight you may have.

Dennis

I'm not really sure how it started. Probably with a poke, coupled with the neighbor leasing out pasture to some 'less than healthy' heifers... The pink eye appeared within 10 days of these other cattle arriving after never seeing pink eye in 5 years.
I treated with NFZ puffer and a medicated crumble with tetracycline. He has not worn a patch. I do have LA300, but was unable to get him into our chute for the injection.

My guess is that you've pinned down the source. Hope you can treat soon so it doesn't spread.

We treated the rest of our herd - a couple more were showing early signs of it coming on. Just the one had a pretty moderate case of it.
All are looking good, just the one still has the blemish on his eye. I'm hoping I can get that cleaned up better.
