Fly Control in Antiquity

So, how'd they do it?

Long before the invention of drenches, sprays, papers, powders, and mail-order fly parasites, certainly folks of bygone centuries must have done SOMETHING to control the flies around their dairy cows.

Anybody know? I can't find it on Google, and I'd like to know. Thanks.

I dont think they did. They may of removed things that attracted them and lay them else where / strategically plant certain flora but those werent the days of chemical repellents nor probably enough care to rub the flora on each and every cattle.

If you find an article I'm sure it'll be a riveting thing to hear about!
