Quick! Need help!

Long story short we had a calf born 2 weeks ago and just figured out yesterday that he isn't doing so good. Checked him everyday and he was nursing from mom but when we seen him yesterday he looked half dead. Got some electrolytes in him around lunch time and had to tube him with a little milk replacer last night. He is still alive this morning but is looking like he will have to be tubed again. He barely has energy to hold his head up. I remember years ago finding a formula on here for sickly calves......something to give them a boost. Something with maybe eggs and some kind of sugar? Please help! He has had electrolytes, probias, and some milk replacer but he just seems like he needs a jump start. Something to give him some energy so he can try to live.

If you are that concerned about this calf, then you should get a vet to see him ASAP. Take the calf's temperature first.

A calf this young, and so lethargic as described, is near death. Check the calf's temp, check the cow's bag to see if she has mastitis or something. You could take the calf to the vet clinic and save the cost of a farm call, but sounds like without some professional intervention the calf will die.

Sounds like you took the right actions, it just wasn't enough in this case. I have heard of summer pneumonia that hits fast and hard, like you described this calf going downhill so fast. It's contagious, you'll want to know if you have it, so get some professional help from the vet.

Try some penicillin, we had a calf come down with pneumonia earlier on in the summer. She was pretty well dead, but we got some aspirin, penicillin and electrolytes into her and she was better within a day or twoImageUploadedByHomesteading Today1403152502.079003.jpg

Banamine if you can get it. I had a calf with pneumonia and it saved his life.
