Share your market reports!

So I was just checking out the local sale barn market report and since prices are at an all time high, got to thinking that it would be fun to see what cattle is going for in other parts of the country, since there seems to be quite a range.

Here is mine in the good ol' state of WI

As you can see, holstein steers are going for nearly as much as beef steers!

The market is so far behind on its #'s that dairy steers have had to fill some of the void that the weigh up cows would normally be in so their $ are up. The other thing is that you are in dairy country. Your market is going to be based around dairy cattle. Some of those cattle may not sell quite as robustly in other areas.
One lacking that I see in that report is that there aren't any number sold. If ten animals sell at a given price I don't pay much attention to it. If 500 animals sell at the same price I'm going to look a little closer.
Have you gotten on cattleusa.com? They have reports and live video that help me make better comparisons in the market.

I will have to check out that website. And no I don't think they give numbers on how many sold but they do say lite test if there weren't many. I do think holsteins sell better here, but it has never been that close before.

I got a nice group of holstein steers I'm going to take in shortly that I bought last fall for $100 a piece before the price sky rocketed. Should be a good profit margin And a nice check in my pocket.

But why are beef heifers going for less than holsteins? I know the feed lots don't necessarily like heifers, but jeeeez I would have thought they would've got more than holsteins. I got a good deal on a 3 month old BWF heifer back in October for $350 and thought that maybe I should sell her cuz prices are up but now that I see I would get less for her than my holsteins I think I'll just keep her.

We are almost neighbors so my market report is this one

Dairy cattle seem to have taken off lately. Record prices for milk driven by big export numbers might have a hand in that .

Can anyone help me get one for Houston area Texas, beef cattle? I found one for the whole US and beef is on a good trend. This past March the market price was about 136.80 /cwt totaling about 1800 for my 1340 lbs steer. Hopefully it bumps up in time for next March when my other steer sells!
