Supplementing fresh goat milk for bottle calf

Hi Everyone,

Can I supplement a little fresh goat milk with the Purina milk replacer that I put in his bottle twice a day. He is only a week old. This is our first bottle calf. I have lots of goat milk for the next 2-4 weeks.

If so how much....like half maybe? Or less?

Many a calf has grown up just fine on straight goat milk.

I raise many a calf on goat milk. I use my extra, extra milk to raise a calf or 10 a year. Due to you only having a little extra for only a few weeks. I would replace a pint of the replacer. The up flipping can upset his stomach. You can freeze the goat milk to make sure you have enough to strech out.

We've had lambs, kids, and calves on the bottle this spring. They get a cocktail of cow and goat milk, depending on what is available.
