Poly Rope??

So, we are going to look at a 5 yr old Jersey tomorrow morning. I am wondering if poly rope hot wire with just step in post will work for this size of animal? Thanks

It might.

But before you turn any new animal out into a pasture, no matter what the fencing, keep it enclosed in a smaller, secure area for several days at the very least until it adjusts to the new surroundings and is comfortable. If this cow is coming from a herd, she will be lonely and more inclined to look for companionship than if she has a buddy (steer, another cow, calf).

G. Seddon gave you the right info about keeping her confined for a few days. Think of it like this: When she arrives, she won't know where she is or where she belongs. If she were to get out, she wouldn't know how to get back.

Give her 3 days to learn where she lives; what it looks and sounds and smells like.
Having a companion helps, too. If she gets out she can follow the companion's sound back home.
