Question Should I? (Jersey Hiefer)

I have found a day old Jersey heifer calf (not a free martin)for $100 not to far from me. I currently have one goat in milk and another to join her in a week or so so I have extra milk. I have raised meat calves with a friend years ago (like as a kid!). I really don't know much about cows but have always wanted a jersey. so time for the questions.... How much milk would she require a day? ( they said she is very tiny, why they are not retaining her) Will she stay in cattle panels till she is bigger and can go to pasture with the goats (electric rope, 4-strand is that ok?) Is this a good deal? Can you stall a cow in the winter like a horse? Thanks!!!

Do it!

Calves generally need 2lt of milk twice a day and gradually increase the milk, like a 1/4lt per week? depending on how the calf is handling the increase.

Yes you can stall a cow just like a horse.

If she is too tiny for the farmer to consider keeping her or selling her as a heifer you may be getting a dud. I wouldn't do it.

Ok thanks for all the replies! I waited to long and someone else snatched her up But he said he will have more in 3 weeks (which would give me time to get ready and for Iris to freshen) She isn't an unthrifty runt or anything and I'm sorry if I made it come off as being unhealthy... they just are breeding for bigger jerseys so don't keep anything that won't get past midsized. I thought that would be perfect for me as I don't really need nor want a huge beast . Thank you so much for all the info. I guess I have three weeks of waiting now
