Hay Ring For Cow and New Calf

My old hay ring is rusted and broken.

I have a cow due April 25th.

Is there a preferred hay ring that serves mom and baby?

This is what we use; they are poly. Work well for our horned cattle. Small calves can climb inside. If you just have the one cow and calf, why bother with a ring at all?

We got the poly one, too, and love it. Lighter weight to lift up and put over the bale, won't rust, it goes right back in shape if it gets bent, etc.
G. Seddon likes this.

We also have the poly. The only downside we have a bull that likes to play with them. He knows how to flip them up and has rolled one clear across the pasture. Too smart for his own good.

Yes but if bully was playing with a metal one, it wouldn't be the same shape when he gets done. The poly one recovers its shape where the metal ones don't.
