Bred Cow All Of A Sudden Has These Symptoms

My red angus several weeks ago started having runny eyes....like crying..

Asked a few people about it but no one seemed to think much of it.

She is due April 25th.

Yesterday she didn't show up for her evening cubes. I found her standing in some weeds in an area of the property she never goes in.

She would not eat cubes. And now has totally runny stools as frequently as several times in a 10 minute period.

Hay supply has not changed, however I did put out the last of a series of bales of coastal that was as much an 7 or 8 months old. Did not look like it had mold. Just older stuff..

Any thoughts??

Do I need to get a cow doc involved?

Yes, get a vet.

What weeds or forage is available to her? Some weeds can be toxic to cattle..

If her appetite doesn't pick up (is she drinking?) I'd get a vet involved since she's due soon.

I would call in the vet. Could be a number of things. Instead of guessing and pulling straws. Get a vet that knows what's goin on just by looking.

Well while I was talking to vets and getting sources on mobile vets, things cleared up..

It was a good wake up to get a headgate set up however. Every vet asked if I had one.

This time of year can be tough. Usually the first thing to green up are perennial weeds. The fresh green is tempting for them to nibble and they sometimes eat things they would not touch if there was grass available. When the rumen is upset they will scour and it takes a couple of days to move thru the system. If she is eating hay again she will be back to normal soon.
