New Jersey bottle calf

I will be buying a jersey heifer in the next few weeks from a guy who gets them from the local dairy. How much is too much to pay in ms? What should I look for when picking the one I want? Also when I bring it home is milk replacer ok to feed it and how much?

Bright eyed and active, with a clean tail (no runny diarrhea). Don't know what prices might be in your area, but is this for meat? A heifer being sold from a dairy might be a freemartin and wouldn't be able to breed (which is why the dairy would be getting rid of it). If this is important to you, better know if it's a twin or not. Milk replacer will be fine. Get the highest quality one you can get. Don't cheap out on milk replacer.

They are selling all their calves so I really hope none are twins! Maybe they are just overrun...he is getting quite a few of them. And she will be for milk (hopefully). How old do they need to be before you know if they are a free martin?
