Finally a Few Photos

It's been cold here for the last 3-4 weeks, which, since I'm a suck when it's cold out, means I took very few photos. But finally we got a couple nice days, and here's a few shots I took today. We have 3 babies, 2 out of cows that we bought which weren't supposed to start calving til late March.... and my daughter's 4H heifer which we bred a little ahead of the rest of the herd. She calved Feb 15 with a nice 80 lb bull calf.

I look forward to your calving pics every year.
Spring will surely get here again.
Those mama cows must be getting pretty wide now.

Is your daughter going to show that same ff heifer again this year,
or is she doing something else?

Thanks for sharing.

Great pictures, as always! Your cows and calves look healthy and happy.

For some reason I thought you'd have mountains of snow there. And please tell us about that windbreak fencing ... looks like it would do the job well.

Looking good! That calf with the star is just too cute.

Thanks! g-a-m, the cows are getting pretty huge. DD will be showing that heifer and her calf this year, and she will show her next year with her 2015 calf as well.

Not hardly any snow this year. We don't usually have huge amounts of snow ever, a couple feet is a lot in this country.

Windbreak fencing is our shelter here. The only time we use a barn is at calving time. Generally, wind break is 8' high, and the boards are spaced enough to allow a bit of air to flow through. An 8' high fence will give around 80 feet of relief.

Ya know how the cattle show folks sometimes call the white markings "chrome"? That calf can be named "Chrome-dome". tee hee
