Cow calved early

So yesterday a 2 yr old heifer had her first calf. Both mom and baby are doing fine. My question is I didn't get the bull until June 5 last year, so if he bred her when he got off trailer, she wasn't due until march 15. Is it common for a cow to be that early? Really cute calf. I wish I could figure out how to get pics on here.

It depends on the breed 270 -300 days plus or minus 14 days. so if it is a jersey or dexter right on time. If brahma or simmental way early.

Well, the bull was a Dexter. The cow is a mixed breed, I own her mom, looks like a white park, all white with black tipped ears. Not sure on sire.

Looks like on your location we are almost neighbors, we are 45 min south west of Lexington.

I had that happen one time, turned out to be the neighbors bull. Could that be a possible cause?

That is what I am wondering. Can't remember that far back
His bull has never gotten over here, but a few of my cows have gotten out. Can't remember if she was one.
