I am expecting a FREAK
I didn't think it would happen, but I think it has......
My LARGE holstein was bread by my little Dexter bull, yesterday was 21 days since the last time she ovulated.
I didn't care if it happened, this holstein cow broke her tail head about 6 months ago, I bought her as a cull cow, the vets did not think re-breeding her to a holstien was going to be a wise choice. But said a smaller breed she should be fine. We were going to leave her with the bull to see if he could breed her, if he could not we were going to AI her to a Jersey.
To give you a idea of the size difference, I do not have any exact heights, but I am 5'4", I cannot see over the cows back, when I stand next to the bull his back hight is about 6" above my belly button (I know, pretty exact measurements, but you get the idea)
So some time around Halloween, we will be having a FREAK! We are already joking about what the resulting calf will look like??
HAHAHAHAHA

It might be one of two things:
It might be tall, with long legs on one side, short on the other side, one horn in the middle of it's forehead.
Or:
It might look like this:
In the second case, expect a wonderful disposition, a modest amount of milk, freely given, and some calves that make beef that's really fit to eat.

Or maybe a smaller version of what looks like an Angus cross...

That would be one of those clockwise or counterclockwise cows, depending on what side the legs are longer on....... Hope you got some hilly pastures, if thats the case.

Yup, gotta be real careful where you pasture those sidehill cattle. Git'em going the wrong way around the hill and they can fall down and roll right off the place.

We bred our Dexter to a Watusi cow. The outcome was rather beautiful. I will try to get a picture up if anyone's interested. The Watusi hunkered down for him. It was quite a sight.

Sorry this took me so long. The whole family came down with the flu. The cow in question, a Watusi/Dexter cross, is at a leased property. We had a friend check on them and bring them hay while we stayed in quarantine. Just got out there to get pictures today. This is Shawna. She is two, and bred to a different Dexter bull.
