Red, polled Dexter, A2/A2, tiny, trained to milk - Lynnwood, WA - Cattle"

Yvette is just under three years old. With a hip height of 37 inches, just an inch taller than most kitchen countertops, she's one of the smaller Dexters I've seen. In addition to being genetically short-legged, she also carries small background genetics, meaning that even her long-legged calves should be on the small side, depending on the sire.

Yvette is polled, and has been genetically tested as homozygous for the A2 milk gene, true red, carrying one copy of the dun gene, PHA negative, and short-legged (positive for Chondrodysplasia).

Yvette is registered with ADGA (Reg. No. 025813), and has her genetic markers on file at UC Davis. She is from good milking lines but still has excellent, beefy conformation. She also has one of the nicest udders I've seen on a Dexter - capacious and well-supported with good-sized, milkable teats and a well-extended foreudder, and Yvette is trained to hand milking. She is also halter trained.

Yvette is a proven trouble-free calver and an excellent, attentive mother. She calved for the first time in July of 2013 with a lovely little bull calf. Her baby was handsome enough that he was purchased and shipped to Tennessee to stand as a herd sire. Yvette is currently open, but I do have the same semen available that produced her first calf. If she is bred in June, she will be able to be shown at the Fair in fall of 2014 and will be ready to show with her baby in the cow/calf classes in 2015.

Yvette's milk production as a first freshener topped out at approximately 2 gallons per day. At six months into her lactation, she's being milked just once a day due to my work schedule. She is able to maintain her lactation, producing between 2 and 3 quarts of milk a day on good quality grass hay, a small amount of alfalfa, and small grain treat to entice her into the stanchion. I imagine her production would increase if she were milked twice a day. It will increase significantly once she calves again.

I'm asking $2800 for Yvette. If you're interested in her, please give me a call at 425.870.5586 or PM me. Thanks!
