Highland cattle

Hi guys, I visit the site pretty much daily, but don't post much so I feel it's time to show you Lucy and ti-boy. My father used to own a dairy farm but sold a couple years ago. I also got a background in dairy production, but new to beef. We always butchered our own Holstein steers and we cannot buy store meat (can't stand the smell) so I found these two for fairly cheap and made the drive to buy them. My father and I make our own hay and straw so they cost next to nothing to feed. Lucy was AIed last sunday to a highland bull, hoping to have a heifer.

The guy I bought them from said the cow was sired by a belted galloway, but the calf looks like a purebred highland... any thoughts?

The ones that I have that are 3/4 highland or more usually look alot like the purebreds. The ones that are only half usually still have the fur but the horns are not always right but yours doesn't have them so we can't use that to tell. There is another gal on here that knows more but it would help to see their faces. The highland meat is great I have lots of people coming back for the steers.

Highland cattle - Cattle
This guy is 3/4 highland 1/4 red angus he was about 8 months old I think in this one
Highland cattle - Cattle This one is 1/2 Highland 1/4 jersey 1/4 angus
Highland cattle - Cattle The one on the right is 1/2 red angus 1/2 highland and her daughter is on the left with a highland dad so 3/4 highland she was dehorned. I have found it can be really hard to tell just how much highland is in them
I know those two red ones well and it can be very hard for me to tell them apart.
