Brisket vs Ear tags

I've always used ear tags and so does everybody I know but I recently noticed a neighbor's whole herd is brisket tagged. Does anybody here use them and can tell me why you prefer them over standard ear tags?

We use ear tags. It is a compromise for me, as I would prefer brisket tags. My uncle/aunt used them on all the cows when I was younger and helping them. IMO, the are much more permanent than ear tags. However, they are a little harder to put in than an ear tag, and instead of seconds it takes a few min to put them in.

Thanks, I never really thought of them as being more permanent but I don't live in an area where there is any bush or anything that interferes with ear tags.

Twine will remove an ear tag quicker than you could cut it out with a knife though....

I've never encountered that as a problem but I could see where it could be.

Learn something new every day. I have never heard of brisket tags before. Maybe they aren't used here in Aus??
We have to use NLIS tags here in Australia. There are 2 options for the tags. Ear or rumen.
Normal farm id tags are always ear tags.

I will have to find out about these brisket tags, very interesting.
