Cheap calves/cattle?

I hear and read about cheap cattle. I follow up or try to follow up on where they are located, most never reply or they are animals near death. Anyone know where these deals are? I'm looking to purchase.

Look into a dairy near you. I get mine from my vet. She has a dairy farm. I normally get what will be too small for the sale barn. She gives me a good price and knows the calf will thrive.

Thank you myheaven,
Yes I use these sources, but I'm looking for all "bargains" people are talking about so far I have never found real "bargains".

I haven't seen any bargains. If they are cheap there is a reason for it, odd bred, sick, injured, mean, old. There is no reason to sell cheap when there is a market that will pay

Everybody wants like a 'bargain' . . .

it'$ just that no one's willing to pay for it.

The auction always has "cheap" animals, you have to know if they are worth the "price"....James

I guess I was not clear about the buying of animals. Been raising and selling calves since early 1980's, I'm seeing low as lower than market prices, but when I call or question about the prices I get no reply or sold, just wondering if others find the same thing. Cattle prices are at all time high at present, I go to sales but will seldom buy sale barn cattle. We raise our own or buy farm direct.

I haven't seen much of any thing here on craigslist I would bother looking at. I see mostly what looks like run of the mill trader calves or trader quality any way.

I'm picky and would rather buy better cattle and let some one else deal with the lower end. The long drought here has almost totally eliminated the colored cattle, any thing but black, making it harder to pick up cheaper calves.
