Exclamation Newbie & i need some help please!!!

Good morning! I am raising my first bottle fed calves, Jersey/Holstein X, named Mocha. She is a month old today. We purchased her from a cattle farmer 2 wks ago along with another 10 day old full Jersey(Caramel) who passed away earlier this week on Tuesday. When my husband and I purchased them we checked navels, eyes, mouth, ears, nose, hair coat, & their bottoms. They were being fed MR at 1(jersey) & 1.5(jersey/holstein) quarts twice a day from the farmer. He sent us home with MR for the first couple days. Everything went great at first! As I am new at this, I kept the same mr bottle feeding schedule and amount, offered mixed grass hay and calf starter grain. Little Caramel started with horrible watery yellow diarrhea the next evening. Not sure what to do, I gave Sustain lll bolus and started electrolytes. Needless to say after treating with excenel and kaopectin(from vet), going up and down with the squirts for a week, refusing to drink her bottle, she passed. As for my concern today, Mocha has been increased to 2.5 pints MR twice day, loves her grain and hay. But she started with pea green soft manure to green liquid now!! Had a snotty nose yesterday morning and some runny eyes. Appetite is great! Always meets me at the gate! She doesnt roam out and nosey as much since her other calf buddy passed but when she does she stills runs and plays and even grazes at the grass. We have used sustain lll bolus, give an electrolyte bottle between her 2 MR bottles. It is helping but still pretty loose and has a little bit of blood on the rectum area. Dont want to lose another calf!! Not sure what else to do...

Sounds like calf scours ,To much mr can do that calf needs electrolytes they are lossing from diahhrea and dehydration , First call the vet back

second home made electrolyte can be made

1- 1 package of fruit pectin

2- 1 tea spoon lite salt

3- 2 tea spoons baking soda

4- 1 can beef consomme

5- warm water to make 2 quarts

give electrolytes 1-4 times daily (Ask your vet ) 30 minutes to 1 hour after feeding milk

Calves can lose up to 12% of their body weight from water losses

Don't leave any refused feed for more than 1 day

the milk provides energy but the other nutrients are needed for survival

hope this helps !

Thanks for your recipe. Our routine the past two days since the diarrhea started has been 2.5 pints MR @ 7:30am, 2 pints electrolyte @ 12:00pm, another 2.5 pints MR @ 7:30 pm. Also gave 1.5 sustain lll. Havent seen anymore snot. Her manure was much better today. No blood and Not loose! She was up mooing at me and ready to eat this morning. Worried about pneumonia setting in but dont have any other signs?!?!
