ok to cut pastures after heavy rain?

We had about 1 1/2 inches of rain yesterday/evening. Guy is coming to cut pastures, not to bale just to cut.

Should he wait a couple of days or is it ok to cut when wet like this?

seems like it might not be good for the soil compaction...tractors are heavy...mine just was sinking in and I have had to wait it out until the soil has dried out some...the lower areas of course are worse....

Turns out the guy didn't show up so it doesn't matter, but in walking the pastures, they were pretty soaked.

I go to great effort not to compact the soils here. I rarely drive my pickup on my paddocks. Getting good soil condition at my place to too difficult to compromise my earlier efforts. Treat the soil correctly and the soil will return many times over.

The person doing the job knew better. It is harder on the machine and does not do nearly as good a job. Just like a lawn mower in wet grass. Makes the job harder and knocks a lot of grass down that doesn't get cut off. Plus if it is really wet you do not want to get stuck and mess up a smooth field, another possibility of damaging equipment. Especially if he needs to do it again....James
