Jersey heifers from sale

Today I bought two Jersey heifer calves at the sale. The cows at this sale always look nice and healthy, except of course for the messed up holsteins with swollen joints, messed up feet, etc. that are being sold as is to kill buyers, I imagine.

The calves I bought were 380 and 400 lb. girls, no snots, goops, diarrhea, limps etc.

I bought beef-type calves about 5 mo ago and they came down with mild upper respiratory that I headed off with antibiotics in their water. They never got real sick, and only one needed more, and a Biomycin injection did the trick.

So, I thought I'd do the same deal with these girls, antibiotic water treatment. Since there's no info as to whether these were ever vaccinated, I'm assuming not, but would dairy heifers of this size likely have been vaccinated by now?

Trying to decide what to hit them with vaccine-wise. So many products covering an array of diseases. I figure the BRSV is important, but if these get sick prior to vaccinating, isn't it already too late? Then there's the usual 8 way such as Covexin 8 for overeating disease and tetanus, etc.

So, what all vaccines do you folks prefer, and who do you prefer to order from if you order online? Lots of websites have seemingly inexpensive costs but then hit you with a big shipping fee.

Thanks in advance!

I'm so glad you asked this. We wait until they are 6 months and then we get the bangs shot because it is required. We've done nothing else and so far have been lucky. We keep a closed herd and have nothing but fields around our pastures but I wonder if there is something else we need to do. What do most people vaccinate for?
