hmmm...might she be bred?

I had my cow Annabelle who turned two in March, last ai on Nov 21, I never really saw a standing heat after that, but then again I work full time, ect I took a shot at palpating and thought I felt a calf, however the gal who does the ai came out and said she was open. bought a little baby bull and set my sights on next year, but the beginning of the week I noticed she is developing a bag; compared to MC who is almost the exact same age, who has nothing...hmmmmm what does that mean? Walden the baby bull tried to nurse on her when he first got here and got kicked pretty good, never saw him try again...would that do it? or do they get a little bag naturally, her teats have gone from pencil nubs to teats longer an bigger than my thumb...whats the deal...she does not look very fat; but everyone looks trim next to chubby MC

Biopryn, vet check, or just wait? You can't rely on not seeing standing heat after breeding or AI.

Added: If the AI didn't take, is it possible that Walden bred her?

Based on ... what?

And now far into the (possible) pregnancy did she check?

You usually don't see udder development without a calf, unless (as you say) the bull has been suckling her, which may mean mastitis and could quite possibly damage her udder.

Do you have an experienced cattle person nearby who could try bumping the calf?

The gal palpated at like 3 months I gave a quick check of her little bag and felt no heat or hardness but will check again Walden was born in feb so don't think he is culprit (size wise it seems impossible) I got him in April and this just started a week or so a go he tried to nurse at first and she slammed him have never seen him even try since

Even with confirmed pregnancy at 3 months, many cows can slip a pregnancy and not carry to term. I guess Walden isn't responsible for it. Hope you'll let us know what happens!

so her bag continues to get bigger, the two rear quarters are more full then the front, and she is getting a bit of edema in front of her bag. no heat, no redness, no swelling I can see, grabbed a teat this morning and out shot milky white fluid. it did not seem to hurt at all, although I am just now getting about to touching her their as, well, I did not think she was pregnant and had lots of time......but she hardly looks big enough the have a calf, granted all my critters tip on the side of chubby and have a bit of a gut...vet comes out Weds. I hope she does not have a cyst or something...I did see Walden try to sneak a suck from behind, she kicked the crap out of him then butted him....and why now would this be happening, I wonder, he has been here since April.....I refuse to get my hopes up..although I already have a person who wants what ever she has, although she is really wanting a milking heifer, AB was ai with a very nice and pricey A2 A2 purebred Jersey of moderate size and good temperament

And the verdict is we still don't know for sure - the vet is a big fellow and Anne is little so he didn't think he could even get a hand in to palpate his assistant tried and thought she felt a muzzle or hoof. But didn't have much experience so waiting on blood test course she is pretty mad at me - she was fine for the exam but threw a hussy fit about a tiny little needle
