Using Lutalyse or? to bring cow in to heat
hi all - I have a couple of questions about using Lutalyse or similar hormone injectable to bring a cow in to estrus for breeding.
I have two Jersey crosses that I would like to take to a neighbor's Devon bull for live cover breeding. One of the cows is in standing heat right now; I am not sure where the second cow is in her cycle. I have never used an injectable hormone, but it sounds like it might help coordinate the cows for breeding...am I correct?
Let's say I take the cows over to be bred in the next few days. Cow #1 would have just passed out of standing heat; would the Lutalyse cause her to ovulate again so soon? And, cow #2 - how long after giving the shot of Lutalyse before you might expect to have her breed able?
Zero experience with this...thanks for any help...
