Guesses on my trailers weight?

I have a 1988 WW livestock bumper pull trailer. It's interior dimensions are 14' long x 5' wide x 6' tall. It is steel, I believe the GVWR is 6000lb (maybe 6500 lb), and has a 2" bulldog coupler.

I was wondering if anyone knew or had an approximation of what this trailer's empty weight is? From what I have read, the avg weight for a trailer like this is 2500 lb.

It should have a metal tag with empty weight and max weight loaded.

You could run it over the scale at a local grain elevator, have the ticket with weight for showing if needed. Here you need a weight slip for buying a license on trailers. Our local elevators will charge a minimum fee for weighing stuff.

Quarries will have scales too, if one is closer.

The tag doesn't list the weight. I checked again last night. Just has GVWR (actually is 6120 lbs), GCWR (5000 lbs), serial number, year, and axle rating (3500 lbs each).

I'm going to see if I can find a truck or grain scale nearby to use.

That trailer sounds similar to ours and it weighs 2800 empty. That is including a spare tire and thick rubber mats inside.

It sounds like it weight 1120 lbs.
gross----- gross
vehicle--- carry
weight--- weight
rating----- rating

gvwr - gcwr = weight of the original construction if it has not been modified
remember just because it has 3500 lb axles does not mean you can load it to 7000 lbs. everything else has to hold that weight and if the floor can not hold it your load will be all over the road.

My steel stock trailer weighed in at just over 2800lbs - 16' long inside x 6' wide x 7' tall with 2" ash flooring & a center gate (weighed at the local elevator). So I'd guess between 2500 - 2800lbs...
