Question yellow residue in milk

Don't know how else to describe it. She is older Jersey, 14? . When I strain her milk it kinda looks like mastitas, but not exactly. She is completely milked out twice a day, shows no sign of mastitas or other illness...just every once in a while it happens for 2 or 3 milkings straight and then it stops...a few months layer it happens again....any ideas ? Thanks in advance.

Any change of feed can cause a change in the milk. Are you noticing it when you go from winter hay to fresh grass, then again when she comes off pasture and goes to hay? It could even happen when you rotate pastures. Or if you add or change her grain.

The first thing I do is rule out mastitis if I'm not sure. Have you had her tested?

If the little globs of yellow melt between your fingers it's butterfat. If they don't and are grainy or like little bits that won't dissolve, then it could be mastitis.
