Useless fact for the day.

A humpback whale produces 1000 lbs of milk a day with 42% butterfat.

Some may feel that this fact is useless, however the next time you consider purchasing a whale this fact will allow you to buy with confidence. What a milkshake maker....Topside

Yeah, but imagine the feed bill.
And an electric fence is simply out of the question.

You'd have one hell of a water trough out there.

Yes, but I could easily cross breed it to a dolphin and make myself a new line of "mini humpbacks".

If I'm not mistaken they feed mostly on Krill only at a certain time of the year. No mineral supplementation, just the minerals in saltwater.

It will take a few generations to come up with the breed standard.
Then I will start the Mini Humpback Whale Association (MHWAoA!) and run a registry.

All the best traits of humpback dairy whales, but at a more homestead-friendly size.

Sounds like a job for my new breed of dog.

The Humpback Whale Retriever!
I am going to start a registry for them too.
Maybe cross ACD's with chocolate labs?

This will be the next big thing in stock dogs.

This might be one of those situations where it is best to JUST BACK AWAY, and leave Mama and Baby together.

Think about having to feed milk replacer to that calf to get the kind of body growth needed that 42% fat provides! And a 1000 pounds DAILY!! You would be a one pair-of-animals raiser for sure. No time left for anything else. Milk replacer delivered in rail cars!!

Better to just let Mama raise her own baby. Thanks for that interesting fact, started a whole new train of thought in my head.
