Blue eyes

My red highland had a black heifer yesterday she has the most amazing blue eyes. The dad is a highland dun. Mama will not let me get a picture yet but I will. Anyone have blue eyes in their herd? At first I though she might be blind but she seems just fine.

Yes. It is not common. We have 2 with light brown eyes. But sometimes they are born with blue looking eyes and they change color. Sounds like you have a over protective momma or a first time heifer.

She is a young mama (second calf) and I don't want to push her she lets me touch the baby today but seems to hate the sound the camera is making, might borrow one that is not so loud. The eyes are very light slate blue. All my others have brown eyes.

If it is digital go into setup and turn sound off. Ours kinda sounds like a snake rustling so I turned it off. I have one You can do what you want with her calf till it squalls then you you not allowed to play no more. Even right after it is born. She will let you pet it while she is cleaning it up. She is a ten year old yellow cow with light brown eyes about the color of light oak. If she sees you putting out treats she will come quietly and eat the rest will bellow and tell the world what you are doing.
