did i buy to large a calf for my nurse cow

With what baby splits by the head were going for I was able to buy a 220 pound Angus cross heifer for the same money. I thought she would bully her way in for a drink on my nurse cow but she is showing no interest but does eat the 11 percent ground mix that I feed the cow. I have only had her a few days and I started milking the cow out and just pouring it in with the calf feed bucket along with a couple of large coffee cans full of feed two times a day. If she is eating that much should I even concern myself with her not getting any milk. I was hoping that if she got some of the milk in her the nurse cow would start licking and adopting her but I don't know if I even need to worry about it.

I think your calf was all ready weaned, so she may not ever nurse. > Thanks Marc

The calf will be fine. I have weaned calves as young as 6 weeks old, and as long as they are eating grain and hay, it doesn't hurt them. I agree with springvalley.

If she is weaned that is good to since the grass is coming but I guess I will try a different sale next week since the babies at the last were at 400 +
