Just had to share...

Our daughter,Grace, is ten. It is her self appointed job to give names to our dairy cows. She makes sure they all have "milk" in their names... we have buttermilk and milkshake and milky way.... well, one of my cows lost her calf and I needed a cheap calf so I bought a Jersey free martin to graft on to her. I explain to Grace that this calf will not be kept, but sold or butchered because she cannot have babies so don't get attached... today, on the way in from chores, she asks if she can still name the calf.. "sure" I say... SO now the calf is aptly named........Milk Dud...

That is a great name I should borrow her. My three year old has started naming but he isn't very good yet we have chocolate chip cookie, chocolate milk, and noodles. Noodles is the one I explained we would eat and his favorite food is noodles so that is what it's called now.

I have a good friend who has a few cows she milks by hand. Her son named a jersey heifer 'Milky'. I thought that was so cute and it fits her perfectly.

Your daughter has inspired me! I'll be picking up some Creme d'Argent rabbits soon, and didn't know what to name them.

Creme Fraiche, Whipping Cream, Sour Cream, Ice Cream...

Tell Grace I said thank you!

Our neighbors think we are nuts for naming our cattle. We put Bum Steer (so named because we were under the impression he was an uncut bull calf at his mothers side when we bought them) in the freezer this year and he joins us for dinner several times a week. And we toast him.
Our new bull we named Loin and then we knighted him. Sir Loin
