Moderator changes for Cattle forum

Hi -
Just wanted to let you know that from the best we can tell Ken Scharabok passed away 12/31/12.

We have noticed his last time online was 12/31/12 and went to see if there was a computer problem or other reason he was not visiting.

When doing a search we found an obit. in a town where he lived. We think it was him. We tried his phone number and it was disconnected.

While we would be trilled to be proven incorrect, we think he probably has passed away. We do not have any information.

Since Ken is not here to be moderator we have asked two members to be your new moderators. gone-a-milkin and Possum Belly have said they will join the mod team on HT and be this forum's mods.

Please welcome them.

They will be checking in once they see the changes have been made.

RIP Ken. You will be missed by all of us. You always had the wisdom to know just when to cool us down and lock down a thread and keep the peace. I have learned a lot from fellow HTer's and you as well God Bless.

Prayers to Ken's family and good luck to the new moderators.

On a side note, this is a sad commentary of the divide between our physical family and our digital one. Too bad it took so long for this news to reach HT.

I'll miss Ken. Not only was he a helpful member here, but he wrote several articles for Countryside Magazine. I'll never forget his saga about running a store that sold groceries with expired date labels.

We have something physical to remember Ken by as well. He was a blacksmith. Ken made us about a dozen wrought iron hooks to hang guns on our walls.

Happy trails, good friend, until we meet again.....

Angie, weren't you starting a forum or designation or some such thing for all HT members who have passed on?

Oh my! I wondered about him. He had been a member for a very long time but since I don't visit the cattle forum, I rarely saw him.

Rest in peace, Ken.

I did not know Ken but it sure looks like he was well thought of by many here. I can only say that I hope to be of help to those that use this forum and HT.

How sad...sad for us that it takes so long to know these things but that is how the cyberworld works. He was a nice guy and I will miss his posts. I suppose if we are not friends outside of HT there really is not a way to keep track of these things. I have instructed my Dh to make certain if anything happens to me to let my squishters (Pony and Mullerslane) know about it. We do not see each other often but try to keep in touch.

Love and prayers to Ken and all his family and friends, Father You know who they are. Give them all comfort and peace. Let them know somehow that Ken was well thought of and will be missed.

Sorry to hear that. Too bad there doesn't seem to be a way to let his family know he is missed here as well, and how highly thought of he was.

Oh my, I was so pleased to find that he was a mod here. I remember his dented goods store tale and he also wrote a series about Croatia. Seems like he would contribute other articles to Countryside on occaision, iirc. Seems like he wrote a bit about his family. If anyone finds the actual obit, could it be linked? Many funeral homes do online condolences.
